I think the first cloak I ever made was for my Dracula costume when I was about 10 years old. Over the years I've made quite a few more and here are three examples of em! The first one I made was the black velvet. I wanted a new cloak to wear for when I first started attending Rocky Horror. So I went into Boston and bought 10 yards of black crushed velvet and satin and got to work. It has lasted me since then and aside from a little sun washing out it is still great! The sheer cloak on here was for one of my dryad costumes. I saw the fabric in the store and fell in love with it; its a pale green silk that absolutely shimmers. I took it home, sewed it into a cloak and then proceeded to handsew irridecent green beads into each of the flowers centers. Alot of work! The salmon colored cloak is for my Mara Jade costume; I stumbled upon the perfect fabric for it in the clearance section of the fabric store and a day later I had a cloak. Cloaks take a boatload of fabric but they are fun to make and are so dramatic when they are done! |

The Cloak below is made of green velvet and is based off of the 'Fellowship' cloaks from LOTR.
