I made this costume while I was working as an overnight security guard in the winter of 2001. I had gotten laid off from my job and had to make ends meet somehow. It wasn't a bad job; I got there at 6pm and after 10pm I could pretty much do whatever I wanted. So I decided to make a costume for an upcoming ball. I love this gown, its made out of a nifty black fabric that has subtle 'cloud' patterns on it. I lined it fully in red satin and it is so comfortable to wear. The silk roses around the neckline actually smell like rose; they have a little reservoir in the middle of them that allow for a 'plug' of scent to be put in there. The bustle detaches and ends in a long train. A little difficult to maneuver in at a con but worth the trouble. I found some pics that were taken one of the first times I wore the dress and you can see the shoes! Strappy little numbers that I covered in red glitter and rhinestones. Love em! Wish the pics were a little clearer but it was one of those disposable cameras. Oh well! This is anouther gown I will make in different colors. I am looking into all sorts of silk flower suppliers so as to be able to make this with different kinds of flowers at the neckline to match the new colorschemes. |
