Floorshow

I finally got around to making a screen accurate Columbia floorshow outfit!  The corset is black satin with a support layer of cotton duck in the middle.  It laces up the front  and zips up the back for ease in a quick change.  Then I hand sequined it as in the movie.   Still need to paint the grommets black.

The boa was alot of work!  It's made out of yards and yards of black, red and gold organza with a tassel on each end.  The edges are finished with wooly serger thread; this was my first experience with the stuff. Total sewing time for just the boa was about 6 hours!

And last but no least is my red sequin glove.  The fabric is super expensive; $50 a yard but totally worth it as it looks really amazing on the stage.

I wore these for the first time last weekend (4/26/03) and they were a big hit!  These are really hard to photograph btw; the refective nature of all the fabrics mess up the camera.  The red in the boa looks almost orange in the pics but it is a true red.  Hopefully I'll get some pics of me in the costume soon!  ;)
