Arwen's Mourning Gown
From 'The Two Towers'
The first time I saw The Two Towers I fell in love with this dress. The scene when she wears it was my favorite scene in the movie, Arwen is morning the fallen Aragorn in a vision her father tells her of as he tries to convince her to leave him and live forever. It was just so painful the images were burned in my mind. I've wanted to make this gown ever since that day but other projects prevented it. After finishing a Hobbit costume I was comissioned to do and with 4 days until the Return of the King's opening I decided to go for broke. Budget version: black stretch velvet with embroidered trim at arms and neck, red v at ve, 12 gold buttons down the front. Red poly sash. Small train, full circle sleeves.

I made two dresses in blue and green velvet out of the pattern I made for the Mourning gown.
